It could well be a repeat of the 2024 WAFCON final in the semifinal of the 2026 edition should both the Super Falcons and hosts Morocco win their quarterfinals at the weekend.
This was after the Super Falcons could only finish as runners-up in Group C behind surprise team Malawi.
Nigeria fought back from two goals down to win 3-2 in the final last year to claim their record-extending 10th WAFCON title.
Morocco face 2022 champions South Africa on Saturday, while the Super Falcons battle the Lionesses of Cameroon the following day.
The other half of the draw has Cote d’Ivoire, Algeria, Malawi and the runners-up Group D to be determined later today.
All eight quarterfinalists have a chance to qualify for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
The four semifinalists automatically march on the World Cup, while the top two from the play-in will advance to the Inter-Confederation Playoffs.
