The Super Falcons have followed the path of the Flying Eagles as they have refused to quit their hotel in Grenoble, France, until they have been paid their bonuses and allowances.
FIFA will again have to reschedule the Falcons travel plans after they did not get on the flight that will take them to Paris for their onward return to Nigeria.
This was the same scenario that played out with the Flying Eagles, the country’s U20s in Poland.
After many promises by top NFF officials, the Flying Eagles eventually returned to the country only for them to be sent home with “transport money” of 40,000 Naira each and their entitlements not paid.
SCORENigeria first reported that the Falcons were ready for a showdown with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over their entitlements.
They are demanding a win-bonus of $4,000 each for the victory over Korea Republic as well as their training camp allowances.
The defence of the NFF has been that funds for the various national teams’ participation at various international competitions have yet to be released.
However, for the FIFA Women’s World Cup the world football governing body paid for the first time training grants to the teams who qualified for France 2019 and there is also a participation fee for these teams.
