The newly elected chairman of Katsina Football Association Aminu Balele Kurfi has promised to source for funds to bankroll the various programmes and events of the organisation.
Kurfi was Saturday scooped 39 votes out of 40 to be sowrn in as new chairman of the Katsina FA.
“We will source for funds from every quarter to run football at all levels in Katsina State,” he vowed.
“We will not depend completely on government for funding, but rather we will seek sponsorship and even my personal money to run the FA and its activities.
“Today, government is faced with a lot of responsibilities in terms of the provision of education, jobs, better medical care as well as security and as such we have to look outside of them for our funding.
“We have to lessen the burden on the coffers of the government.”
Kurfi praised a free and fair polls while commending all major stakeholders in the Northwest for their co-operation and support.
He also disclosed he has stepped down as chairman of Katsina United and also as the Senior Special Adviser (SSA) Sports to the Katsina State Governor.
The NFF were represented at the elections in Katsina by executive committee member and Zamfara State FA chairman Ibrahim Gusau.
Kurfi aka Dan Arewa reminded the NFF of the promise to build a befitting secretariat for the Katsina FA as well as a FIFA Goal Project in Daura.
He also expressed his disappointment that Katsina State was not represented on the NFF selection committee as earlier promised.
