The Super Eagles training camp in Abidjan is bubbling after the players finally received part of their camp allowances.
SCORENigeria first reported that the NFF were yet to pay the team even camp allowances right from the training camp in Dubai prior to the AFCON.
“The boys were paid part of their camp allowances after they secured their qualification to the knockout rounds of the AFCON,” a source told only SCORENigeria
However, there was no mention yet of their bonuses, which currently stands at $12,500-man after the first round at the AFCON.
Today was observed as a rest day by the squad.
They will resume training tomorrow evening as they prepare for their Round of 16 match Saturday night in Abidjan.
The team’s major injury doubt remains Antwerp midfielder Alhassan Yusuf, who has yet to return to full team training after the thigh injury that forced him out of the opening group game against Equatorial Guinea.
The 23-year-old box-to-box midfielder has himself said he hopes to be back for the knockout rounds of the competition after a scan showed the injury was not as serious as first feared.
Stand-in captain William Ekong, who missed the last group game against Guinea Bissau due to a knee problem, said he will resume full training after today’s break.
