Samuel Chukwueze, Paul Onuachu as well as David Okereke showed class proudly flying the Nigerian flag at their respective clubs on another busy football weekend across Europe.
5.David Okereke
He came off the bench to get the winning goal for champions Club Brugge against Saint-Truiden. This could be the turning point for his season as he has struggled for game time with the coach preferring to play him on the wings rather than as top striker. He will be expected to play a bigger role at Club Brugge should fellow Nigeria star Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis finally get his way and move in the January transfer window.
4.Taiwo Awoniyi
The Liverpool loanee scored his second goal in the German Bundesliga for Union Berlin at Hertha Berlin. He has continued to show he can produce the goods at one of the major leagues in Europe, but still needs the stability of a permanent deal to fully establish himself.
3.Paul Onuachu
There is just no stopping the giant striker in Belgium after he scored his 14th goal in the league for high-riding KRC Genk. He continues to look very good to finish as Goal King in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League and after which a big-money transfer to the Premier League in England could well be on the cards. At 26, he needs to sooner rather than later make a move that will secure his financial future.
2.Zaidu Sanusi
After scoring his first-ever goal for FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League, the defender further enhanced his reputation as an attacking force with his first goal for the Portuguese champions in the league at the weekend. This is not surprising because he started out as a left winger and even earned the nickname ‘Gareth Bale’ while starting out at his Kebbi rural town of Jega.
1.Samuel Chukwueze
It has always been said that Chukwueze should add goals to his play and he responded to that by grabbing the match winner at Sivasspor in Turkey for Villarreal to advance to the Round of 32 of the UEFA Europa League. The fleet-footed winger has been linked with mighty Real Madrid recently, but such high-profile club will only fork out Villarreal asking price of 80 million Euros if only he scores a lot more goals.
Glad our boys are doing well abroad. Good to see!
