Gernot Rohr has demanded the Super Eagles be solid in defence and play as a team to reach the 2019 AFCON Final at the expense of Algeria tomorrow.
“Algeria have the players who play in the UEFA Champions League, but we have a strong defence and we have a good collective,” Rohr said.
“We did well to stop Percy Tau in our last game against South Africa.
“If we are strong and solid in defence, if we find our goals scorers, if our goal scorers have the confidence, we can be optimistic.”
Defender Leon Balogun was also positive ahead of Sunday’s showdown in Cairo.
“Algeria have some great individual players like Riyad Mahrez, who can hurt you, but we only have to focus on ourselves and we will be good,” he said.
Arsenal ace Alex Iwobi called on the fighting spirit that saw Nigeria go past Cameroon and South Africa to come to play again tomorrow.
“We showed great fighting spirit against Cameroon and South Africa. We need to show that again against Algeria and we will have a chance,” he urged.
Kick-off time is 8pm tomorrow at the Cairo International Stadium.
