The Super Eagles starting XI who defeated South Africa to reach the 2019 AFCON semifinal could still be changed for tomorrow’s clash against Algeria, according to coach Gernot Rohr.
After the hard-fought win over Cameroon, Samuel Chukwueze came on for Moses Simon and Jamilu Collins started ahead of Ola Aina against South Africa in the quarterfinal.
“We made two changes to the team for the match against South Africa and it is also possible we can change the team again because I believe everyone is ready in our young team,” he said.
“We have a lot of strikers – seven. And of the 23 players on the squad, 20 have so far played, which is a lot.
“I hope we can see the two others (Henry Onyekuru, Victor Osimhen), but it will be difficult for the third goalkeeper (Francis Uzoho).
“The moment has come to bring the best team on the pitch.”
Rohr has shown the strength in depth in his squad to the AFCON in Egypt after he made five changes following the opening day win over Burundi and also the same number of changes for the final group game against Madagascar.
