CAF have warned that Rivers United will be thrown out of the Confederation Cup if they failed to secure a waiver from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for South African opponents Bloemfontein Celtic.
CAF warned the tie will be awarded to the South African club should they be unable to play the return leg in Nigeria.
SCORENigeria specially learnt that NCDC is yet to approve an application for Celtic to fly into Nigeria for tomorrow’s Confederation Cup first round second leg tie in Port Harcourt without having to adhere to quarantine and other Covid-19 measures.
It will be noted that South Africa is now the origin of a new variant Coronavirus, which is far more transmissible than the original disease.
Rivers United won the first leg in South Africa 3-0 a fortnight ago.
The overall winners of this match-up will advance to the final playoff leading to the group stage of the Confederation Cup.
