Jose Peseiro has said the Super Eagles will hope to beat his home country Portugal tomorrow as they continue their build-up to be African champions again.
Thursday’s friendly in Lisbon will be Portugal final warm-up game before they fly out to Qatar for the World Cup.
Kick-off time is 7.45pm in Nigeria.
“We would have loved to have played against Portugal at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar on 24 (November) in an opening game of the group stage,” Peseiro told NFF TV.
“But now Portugal will play Ghana (at the World Cup).
“Nigeria deserved to play at the World Cup.
“This is a friendly match, we want to do our maximum and beat Portugal, but it won’t be easy.
“We will show our individual and collective qualities and want to improve against big national teams.
“We will defend the national shirt by giving our best.”
Ajax defender Calvin Bassey will face a late fitness test to determine whether he will feature tomorrow after he was injured in a Dutch league game at the weekend.
“We have rested him and I hope we can play,” Peseiro said.
“Today, he will have a test to know whether he can play or not.”
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen suffered a back injury in his team’s 3-2 home win over Udinese and has been ordered to rest.
“I will like to play with Osimhen because he’s a fantastic player, but since I can’t play with him, the most important players are the ones who are here with us.”
