Cristiano Ronaldo is ill and so will not feature in tonight’s 2022 World Cup warm-up match against the Super Eagles just as the Portuguese coach Toni Conceicao has described Nigeria as a top African team.
Portugal coach Fernando Santos announced that Ronaldo is suffering from a stomach bug and that was why he missed training Wednesday.
The Portugal captain will not play against the Eagles tonight as a result.
Former Cameroon coach Conceicao, who is also Portuguese, has in the meantime said the Eagles will be suitable opponents to prepare Portugal for their World Cup group game against Ghana.
Conceição said : “This game against Nigeria comes at a good time, because it is one of the best African teams, has excellent players and has a football that is somewhat identical to the one that the Ghana team should play against Portugal.
“Therefore, Portugal can get used to a set of situations that they will find in the game with Ghana.
“This game is very appropriate, and Portugal will be able to draw many lessons in the game with Nigeria.”
