Jose Peseiro will not be the new coach of Algeria after the Bosnian Vladimir Petkovic was selected for the job.
Multiple reports out of Algeria said Petkovic is expected this week in the North African country to finalise his appointment.
The Algerian coaching post at a time was narrowed down between Peseiro and Petkovic.
Peseiro, whose contract with Nigeria ended after the AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire, confirmed he had been contacted by Algeria for the top job.
Petkovic has been issued his entry visa to Algeria and he will visit the National training centre on arrival.
His immediate task as coach of the two-time African champions is an invitational tournament to be hosted by Algeria and which will feature Super Eagles 2026 World Cup rivals South Africa.
