Paul Omo Mukairu has praised the battling performance of Antalyaspor after they stunned hosts Sivasspor to reach the semi-final of the Turkey Cup tonight.
Antalyaspor held Super Lig leaders Sivasspor to a 1-1 draw to go through on the away goals rule after both teams played out a goalless draw in Antalya last week.
“It was a very difficult game played under tough conditions, but we fought hard to draw 1-1 against Sivasspor, who are top of the Turkish league,” said Mukairu, who was introduced to the fray in the 64th minute.
“We are all thrilled to reach the last four of the cup and now hope we can go all the way to the final.”
Antalyaspor will face local rivals Alanyaspor, who eliminated cup holders Galatasaray in the two-leg semifinal.
The first game will be played in Antalyaspor on March 3 with the reverse tie on March 21 in Alanyaspor.
“It will be a local derby and we have to again be at our best because Alanyaspor are a very good team,” Mukairu told SCORENigeria
The overall cup winners will feature in next season’s UEFA Europa League.
