Trabzonspor lost the chance to move up in the Turkish Super Lig standings after they could only manage a 1-1 draw at Antalyspor with their Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu admitting his team deserved more.
Fellow Nigerian, Paul Onuachu, had to rescue a point for Trabzonspor with a penalty goal after hosts Antalyspor went in front in the first half.
A win would have seen Trabzonspor topple second-placed Fenerbache.
“Football is like that. It’s open to all three outcomes. We were actually very close to getting the three points. We did everything we could to get them, but unfortunately it didn’t happen today,” rued Nwaiwu, who established himself in the first team since his arrival from Austria this month.
