Chairman of the NPFL Club Owners Association, Isaac Danladi, has urged the authorities to end the 2019/2020 season amid continued concerns over the safety of teams during the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Twenty five rounds of matches have so far been played in the NPFL season with 13 rounds still to be played.
The league was suspended on March 28 following the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
“Aside from the testing of players and the cost, are the test kits available? Why are we in a hurry to restart the league?” asked Danladi, who is also chairman of Nasarawa United in an interview with The Punch.
“The projection is that the vaccine will be available to all from November.
“A very sensible country that does not have quality facility will wait until they can handle such.
“Anyone who advocates for the league to start now does not mean well for the players at all.
“The Federal Government is struggling to curtail the virus.
“Do we love football more than those countries that cancelled their leagues? France, Belgium and Holland are some of the European countries who called off their leagues.
“Some states are also battling to pay salaries and they are thinking of restarting the league.
“Let’s plays football only when it’s safe.”
Both Kwara United and Dakkada also supported the idea for the NPFL to restart only when it is safe to do so.
