Bordeaux are top of Ligue 2 thanks to a hat-trick by Super Eagles striker Josh Maja.
Just days after it looked like Maja will return to England with Birmingham City, the England-born player turned on the magic for Bordeaux to win 3-1 at Paris FC today.
The striker has had to agree a pay cut to remain at the Ligue 2 club and if they fail to win promotion back to Ligue 1, he can leave on a free at the end of the season.
The 23-year-old Maja is now joint leading scorer in Ligue 2 with four goals.
Bordeaux now have 14 points from seven matches to be ahead of Amiens, who also have 14 points but an inferior goals difference.
