Officials have told SCORENigeria that AC Milan U19 star Victor Eletu is most likely to miss Sunday morning U20 World Cup Group D opener against the Dominican Republic after he only joined up with the Flying Eagles late this week.
It was learnt that midfielder Eletu was only released by Milan after he played an U19 game Wednesday before he headed out to South America.
“He came in late, jet lag and all, it is most unlikely he will feature in the opening game on Sunday,” a team official told SCORENigeria
The gifted, left-footed midfielder is highly thought of by Milan, who project he is already knocking on the door of the first-team squad after a couple of appearances for them since last year.
Bulgaria-based Tochukwu Nnadi has combined well with Daniel Daga in defensive midfield while also venturing forward to score in two test games – vs Olympic Hybrid and Club Almirante Brown.
He is therefore expected to keep his place in the starting XI as Eletu will have just a training session with the team before the opening game of the tournament.
The Flying Eagles will take on Italy in a second group game Wednesday morning after the match against the Dominican Republic.
