Before the resignation of the NFF executive committee led by president Ibrahim Gusau, the membership of the board was already sealed even before the polls slated for Lafia on September 27.
Like a close observer of Nigerian football described, the NFF polls has been a mere selection process since the state FA chairmen took full control of the NFF congress courtesy of the 2010 NFF statutes.
Therefore there would have been at least 11 state FA chairmen on the NFF executive committee to consolidate their overwhelming dominance in the governance of Nigerian football.
SCORENigeria can specially report after speaking with various stakeholders Gusau would have been re-elected for another four-year term.
Gusau’s close allies Rabiu Inuwa Ahlan and Babagana Kalli would have returned to the board – Ahlan for the Northwest, while Kalli would have assumed a higher office as Chairman of Chairmen.
His ally-now-turned-adversary, Ahmed Yusuf ‘Fresh’, would finally have bowed out of the executive committee after more than a decade on it.
Also out will be “coupists” Dele Ajayi (Ondo FA chairman), Ganiyu Majekodunmi (Ogun FA chairman) and Nse Essien, who at a time was acting chairman of the Akwa Ibom FA.
The three Vice-Presidents would be Felix Anyansi, Gbenga Elegbeleye (representing the NPFL) and Aisha Falode, who was to represent the women as ordered by FIFA.
The full list of NFF board members would have thus been as follows –
Northwest – Ibrahim Gusau (Zamfara FA chairman), Rabiu Inuwa Ahlan (Kano FA chairman)
Southwest – Hajji Liameed Gafar (Lagos FA chairman), Oba James Odeniran (Oyo FA chairman), Gbenga Elegbeleye (NPFL)
Northeast: Babagana Kalli (Borno FA chairman), Timothy Heman (Taraba FA chairman), Garba Mohammed (Yobe FA chairman)
Southeast: Felix Anyansi, Ifeanyi Dike (Imo State FA chairman), George Aluo (NNL)
Southsouth: Aisha Falode (women), Poubeni Ogun (Bayelsa FA chairman)
Northcentral: Silas Agara (NLO), Abdullahi Musa Thuraya (Kwara FA chairman), Salisu Galadima (Nasarawa FA chairman)
