Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, who stood out for Nigeria to march on to Sunday’s AFCON Final at the expense of South Africa, has vowed to be consistent with the Super Eagles.
Nwabali saved two kicks in the penalty shootout and was at his best in the entire game as the Super Eagles beat South Africa 4-2 on penalties after scores stood at 1-1 after extra time
“I want to be consistent whenever I get to play for my country,” he declared after a dramatic end to Wednesday’s AFCON semifinal against Bafana Bafana.
He said he took his own decisions and was not lucky to stop the penalties.
Nwabali, 27, was named the official Man of the Match.
“To be named Man of the Match and take my country to the AFCON, I feel so happy,” he said.
“Everyone is just happy.”
He was full of praise for South Africa and goalkeeper Ronwen Williams
“To be on the same stage with him was a motivation, one of the best I have seen, you have to work hard to beat him,” he saluted the Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper.
