It will be an interesting rematch Sunday, when the Super Eagles do battle again with hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the 34th edition of the AFCON.
The Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire pipped DR Congo courtesy of a second-half goal by Sebastian Haller.
The Super Eagles beat the Ivorians 1-0 in a group game of this tournament on the back of a penalty goal by captain William Ekong.
Tonight, the hosts pushed on by capacity crowd at Alassane Quatarra Stadium in Abidjan did not appear to miss top stars like Serge Aurier and Christian Kouame as they often put DRC on the back foot.
Nigeria have won the competition thrice, while Cote d’Ivoire topped it twice.
South Africa and DRC will now play the third-placed match Saturday.
