The new NNL season kicked off today in Owerri with hosts Heartland pegged by a second-half fightback by Crown FC.
Heartland raced into a 2-0 lead by halftime only for the visitors to score twice early in the second half.
Heartland, under coach Emmanuel Amuneke, went ahead after 11 minutes through Ekene Osigwe, before they doubled their lead in first half stoppage time via a penalty goal netted by Jonathan Osondu.
However, Crown staged a remarkable comeback with goals in the 53rd courtesy of Osas Kevin and 54 minutes thanks to Mustapha Olamilekan to share the spoils.
Next weekend the other teams in the second-tier championship will all be in action as the battle to feature in the NPFL gets going again.
