CAF simply described him as “a star in the making”.
“I was shocked when they gave me the Man of the Match Award,” he admitted after the third-placed clash.
“I thank God for everything. I thank my teammates and my coaches.”
He said he is now looking forward to the FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia in May.
“My next target is to go back to my club, continue to work hard and prepare very well for the World Cup,” he said.
Sunday justified his first start at the tournament with two well-taken goals in the second half against Tunisia Friday.
In the 68th minute, he danced his way through the entire Tunisian defence before his left-footed strike gave the goalkeeper no chance for the best goal of the match.
And on the stroke of full time, he darted into the box and again let fly past the goalkeeper.
Nigeria won their first U20 AFCON medal since 2015, when they annexed their seventh title in Senegal.
