More than 10 months since they topped the qualifying tournament to this year’s U20 AFCON, the Flying Eagles are yet to be paid a promised bonus for doing so.
In May 2022, the Flying Eagles won the WAFU B U20 tournament in Niger Republic which qualified them to the 2023 U20 AFCON in Egypt.
The NFF promised the players $5,000-a-player for achieving this target.
This revelation comes on the heels of another promise by the NFF to pay each player another $5,000 for qualifying the country to the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia.
“All these have been promises, nothing has been redeemed yet,” a source informed SCORENigeria
SCORENigeria has already reported that the Flying Eagles head coach Ladan Bosso has not been paid salaries running over 15 months.
The Junior Eagles finished third at this year’s U20 AFCON after they thumped Tunisia 4-0.
It was the country’s first medal at this level since 2015.
They also won the Fair Play Award.
