Oghenekaro Etebo has insisted Galatasaray will not give up on the fight to reclaim the Turkish championship even after they lost ground in the title chase no thanks to a 4-3 home loss to Rizespor.
Etebo played the entire game Friday night, while fellow Super Eagles teammate Henry Onyekuru was a second-half sub.
‘Gala’ are now two points behind leaders and Istanbul rivals Besiktas, who also have two outstanding games.
However, Etebo maintained the title fight has not yet been won and lost.
“Anything can happen in football. Nothing is lost right now. We have 10, 11 more matches to still play,” he said after the match.
“Obviously, all we have to do is focus on our football. After focusing on our football, we will see what happens at the end of the season.”
The versatile player, who is on loan from English Championship side Stoke City, blamed defensive lapses for the home loss.
“We made some defensive mistakes,” he admitted.
“We will fix these mistakes. We will find the opportunity to work together again on our return from the national team.
“We need to know that anything is possible in football. We need to handle these last games well and continue well.”
