Bulgaria-based striker Emmanuel Umeh has been tipped as the man to score the goals for the Flying Eagles at the U20 World Cup, which starts this week in Argentina.
The Botev Plodiv centre-forward came off the bench to score the winner for the Flying Eagles in a friendly against Argentine club Almirante Brown.
His emergence must be welcome news to coach Ladan Bosso after his strikers Francis Ayuba and Olamilekan Adams fired blanks at the U20 AFCON in Egypt in March.
“Umeh has impressed in Argentina,” a team official informed SCORENigeria
“Many of the officials here believe he will surprise a lot of people at this World Cup.”
He has jumped ahead of Mavlon FC striker Lawal Salim Fago, who at a time looked to be coach Ladan Bosso’s first choice to lead the Flying Eagles strike force at the World Cup.
Umeh, 19 in August, is a powerful, all-action centre-forward who drives at goal.
He moved to Europe last year and has scored a goal in 14 appearances in the Bulgarian top league and another three in the second-tier.
His teammate from Botev Plodiv and midfielder, Tochukwu Nnadi, has also shone with the Flying Eagles
