Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has opened up on the thigh injury that knocked him out of the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
The Panathinaikos striker has returned to his Greek club after he suffered the injury in the Super Eagles training camp.
Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle said Dessers could be sidelined for 12 weeks.
The player himself expressed disappointment by this latest injury setback that ruined his AFCON debut.
“Unfortunately I sustained an injury at AFCON. It’s extremely difficult to accept that I will miss the remainder of the tournament and an important period at Panathinaikos,” the 31-year-old striker shared on social media.
He said he will now be the Super Eagles biggest fan as they continue their quest to be African champions again.
“I will be out biggest fan in these weeks, go full in rehab and hopefully we can celebrate a win and a goal together soon.”
Dessers has won 11 caps since his debut in 2020, scoring four goals.
