FC Porto moved clear on top of the table in Portugal after fast-rising defender Zaidu Sanusi, who is reported to be on the radar of the Portuguese giants, scored for Santa Clara to win 4-3 and hand Benfica a major setback in their push for the championship.
Leftback Sanusi rose above the defence to nod home a corner for his team’s second goal of Tuesday’s roller-coaster in Lisbon.
Sanusi, 23, has been flying at Santa Clara after time at Gil Vicente and Mirandela, both in Portugal.
His displays have since alerted several top clubs including Porto.
Porto made easy work of Boavista 4-0 on the day that closest rivals Benfica faltered.
They now have 67 points from 28 matches, while Benfica have 64 points.
They are on track for their 29th championship with six rounds of matches left to the end of the season in Portugal.
