Coach Emerse Fae has been sacked by Cote d’Ivoire.
Emerse Fae has led his country to great success during his time as coach. In 2024, he won the AFCON with the “Elephants” and in the recently concluded World Cup the team made it to the round of 32, where they fell to Norway.
Cote d’Ivoire football federation (FIF) announced that they have parted ways with the national team coach.
“The Cote d’Ivoire Football Federation wishes to express its deep gratitude for Emerse Fae’s commitment, professionalism and the efforts he has made as national team captain,” the federation announced.
“The federation clearly sees his contribution to the development of the national team and the results achieved under his leadership – results that will remain an important part of modern Ivorian football history.”
Herve Renard is reported to be replacing Fae.
The Frenchman has experience of leading several national teams in Africa, and as recently as this summer’s World Cup he led Tunisia in two matches, but has stepped down from the role after the championship.
