SCORENigeria has learnt that for tonight’s final U20 World Cup Group D clash against Brazil, coach Ladan Bosso is most likely to make at least two changes to the team who conquered Italy.
One likely team change will be “supersonic” winger Haliru Sarki getting his first start in Argentina after he displayed his blistering pace as a second-half sub against Italy in midweek.
Sarki is the fastest Flying Eagles player with the ball, but his major undoing has been his final end product.
The other change from the team against Italy would be Abia Warriors right back Augustine Njoku getting his first minutes of action at the World Cup.
Njoku is the only defender from the WAFU qualifiers to have made it all the way to this World Cup.
However, he lost his first-team place at the U20 AFCON in Egypt in March, when skipper Daniel Bameyi was drafted to right back to allow the impressive Abel Ogwuche to partner Benjamin Frederick in central defence.
Nigeria need only a draw tonight to win Group D and enjoy a more favourable Round of 16 clash against possibly Tunisia (Group E) or Slovakia (Group B).
The Flying Eagles outclassed Tunisia 4-0 in March to finish third at the U20 AFCON.
Kick-off time tonight in La Plata is 7pm.
