Striker Jerome Akor will miss most of the season with Norwegian club Sogndal after it was discovered that he has a back problem that will sideline him for at least three months.
Akor, who featured at last year’s U20 World Cup in Poland, has not played this season on account of this injury.
“With Akor out, we lose an important player, so this is very difficult both for the team and not least the boy himself,” Sogndal coach Eirik Bakke told the club’s website.
The 20-year-old striker has said he will remain positive.
“Now I have to be positive and do what physio says,” he said.
“It is tough both for me and for the group, but it is good that we found out early on what was wrong.”
