As usual, 2020 was good to Leke James, who hit yet again double digits in goals this past calendar year to cap a great campaign with his Norwegian side as he signed out in grand style.
In the just-concluded Norwegian season that ran typically all through the year, James remained the arrowhead in the Molde FK attack with a 13-goal return to emerge the club’s top scorer yet again in 16 starts.
The 28-year-old striker would finish seventh top scorer overall on the scorers’ chart to cap a very good season which he began on a bittersweet note scoring once and getting the matching orders in the league opener at former club Aalesund in a 4-1 road win on June 16, 2020.
Illness and injuries reduced his appearances this past season.
Molde though failed to keep their championship after they were upstaged by Bodo/Glimt, but as runners-up they will again play in Europe this New Year.
He was the only Nigerian who was ranked in the Top 50 in the Norwegian top league after he was placed 33rd by Eurosports.
Molde and their Nigeria star are still in the reckoning for the Europa League as they battle Bundesliga club Hoffenheim in the Round of 32 next month.
The previous year, he netted 17 goals as Molde were crowned champions.
