Norway have demanded for the resignation of FIFA President Gianni Infantino and “there is no going back”.
The chair person of Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) Lise Klaveness told The Guardian that they will ask for Infantino to step down.
“We have concluded that we no longer have any confidence in Infantino,” Klaveness told The Guardian.
“We have been worried for a long time, and every year – yes, during every part of the year – the development has taken another step in the wrong direction. For us, the trust is now completely gone. There is no going back for Infantino.
“We are now faced with a global partnership that is deeply polarized and, I would say, marked by chaos. That is why we will call on him to resign immediately, so that the global football community can look forward and work together for the future.”
The Norwegian federation will, according to The Guardian, write a formal letter demanding Infantino’s resignation in the coming week.
Norway will be the first federation to demand it.
In addition, Norway will formalise a complaint to FIFA’s ethics committee regarding three points: The attempt to sell the World Cup, the peace prize Infantino awarded to Donald Trump, and Folarin Balogun’s alleged suspension during this summer’s World Cup.
