Kelechi Iheanacho has set a new goals record with Bursaspor and now he said he wishes to be a legend of the Turkish team.
Iheanacho set a new record when he scored in 12 straight matches for Bursaspor.
He is now also the leading scorer in the Turkish second-tier league with 16 goals.
“Becoming a legend of a great club like Bursaspor would be a great honour for me and my family. I hope something like that happens,” Iheanacho said on a television programme.
The striker said the immediate target is for Bursaspor to finish as champions of the second division to return to the Turkish Super Lig.
He said, “At the end of the day, we aim to become champions and get promoted to the Süper Lig.
“We want to do this and we are playing for it. I am happy to be here.”
Bursaspor are currently top of the table with 31 points from 13 matches.
He also spoke on his long goal-scoring record.
“Our manager spoke to me before the match. He said that if I scored, I would become the new record holder,” he revealed.
“It’s a really big record. There was a little pressure during the match, but in the end, I succeeded.”
