Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi scored what many described as “a typical striker’s goal” for Besiktas in a Europa League tie against Crystal Palace and afterwards celebrated it in a unique way.

Ndidi captained Besiktas on the night and he led by example when in first half stoppage time he latched on to a through ball and fired first time past the goalkeeper as a proven goalscorer would.
He celebrated the goal by pointing at his name at the back of his shirt.
“Actually, I was congratulating myself, saying ‘bravo’ to myself,” he explained
Besiktas were eventually held to a 2-2 draw by the London club.
They are eighth and within the automatic playoff bracket of the Europa League with seven points from three matches.
“I can say it was a good match. We started slowly in the first half, but we gained momentum and scored the goal. The same thing happened in the second half. Overall, it was a good match,” he said.
“Beşiktaş is a great club. We’re showing ourselves against teams coming from big leagues.
“We’re on the right track, everyone is working hard. Everyone is fighting. Everything is going great.”
