Officials have informed SCORENigeria that captain Wilfred Ndidi has withdrawn from Super Eagles friendly against Russia.
Besiktas midfielder Ndidi captained the Super Eagles in 2027 AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea Bissau.
Coach Eric Chelle plans to use the Russia friendly primarily to test run his players for the country’s Olympic team and that explains why several uncapped U23 players were called up.
In the meantime, part of the Eagles backroom staff as well as players from the NPFL called up for the friendly against Russia will jet out of Abuja tomorrow for the match.
