SCORENigeria has scooped that George Ilenikhena will keep his place in the Super Eagles Starting XI in Guinea Bissau after he scored on his debut against Madagascar.
On Saturday, he trained apart from the squad as a precaution after he picked up a knock in the Madagascar match, but he has since been given the all-clear.
The Saudi Arabia-based striker is also highly rated by coach Eric Chelle, who convinced him to choose Nigeria ahead of France.
The Super Eagles coach is banking on the young centre-forward to also lead the country’s Olympic team, the U23s.
The Former AS Monaco striker justified his starting spot against Madagascar with a goal and a whole-hearted performance.
Members of his family were in Uyo to cheer him up as the Eagles came from a goal down to win 2-1 to get their qualifying campaign off to a winning start.
