Goalkeeper Dede Dare was the hero for ‘The People’s Elephant’ after he pulled off several saves to deny home team Pillars in front of a sold-out crowd.

Enyimba will now hope to move away from rock bottom of the standings Wednesday when they welcome Shooting Stars in a rescheduled Week 2 match.

Chukwuemeka Obioma scored a brace and provided an assist for Abia Warriors to beat Bendel Insurance 3-0, while Ikorodu City turned back defending champions Enugu Rangers 2-0 courtesy of goals by Aderemi Adeoye and Ikechukwu Junior.

It was Ikorodu City’s first-ever NPFL victory over Rangers.

Othuke Egbo was match winner for Warri Wolves at home against Shooting Stars, while Kun Khalifat pipped Kwara United thanks to a 64th minute strike by Agor Chukwuma.

In other results, Nasarawa United stopped Niger Tornadoes 1-0, Plateau United were 2-0 winners over Inter Lagos and Katsina United defeated Doma United 1-0.

Barau FC are top of the standings with 12 points from six matches, while Plateau United, Rivers United, Doma United and Enugu Rangers are early front runners.
