Flamingos of Nigeria thumped their Ghanaian counterparts 4-2 tonight to reach the knockout rounds of the WAFU B U17 Girls Tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
They thrashed Niger 5-0 in their opening group game.
Tonight, Oluwakemi Adegbuyi opened scoring for Nigeria after 33 minutes, before captain Harmony Chidi doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time.
Flamingos defender Elizabeth Adesuyi was sent off the 55th minute for a professional foul.
Ghana then pulled a goal back seven minutes later through captain Saidatu Wahab.
However, despite their numerical advantage it was Nigeria who again got on the scoreboard on 70 minutes through Mary Dunstan.
They made it 4-1 three minutes from full time courtesy of Kaosarat Akanji, only for Gloria Ameaa to make the scoreline more respectable with a second goal at the stroke of fulltime.
