Barcelona President Joan Laporta has picked his own winner of the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
Laporta said he believes that his club’s 19-year-old star Lamine Yamal deserves to win the prestigious individual award.
“I would love it if Lamine won the Ballon d’Or this year,” Laporta told COPE.
“I think he deserves it.”
The winger had previously spoken out about his chances as well.
“To me, Mbappé and I are the two best players in the world, and this year I deserve it for what I have won,” he said backing himself.
Earlier, the President of the Catalan club also spoke highly of the Spanish superstar’s qualities.
“He is a very mature young man and a brilliant player. As far as I am concerned, he is a genius. His statements are also exceptional,” he remarked.
