A top expert has warned Swedish club Djurgarden against signing Nigerian striker Abdul Abdulmalik after he went on strike to force a transfer away from his English fifth division club.
The Boreham Wood striker has been rumoured to be moving to Djurgården recently, and the English club have since issued a statement to that effect.
The chairman Danny Hunter confirmed, among other things, that they had agreed to lower their asking price and that Abdulmalik himself was refusing to train in order to force the move.
TV4 expert Nordin Gerzic was clear that Djurgården should pull out of the transfer.
“If I were Djurgården’s management, I would not have signed this player. Because he refused to train, you have behaved like this once… If he is as good as Djurgården seem to think, it is not impossible that he will want to move on again. If he behaved like this now, he may well behave exactly the same at Djurgården,” he reasoned.
“It will be the biggest move again in his career, when he moves on from Djurgården. If you have that behaviour in you, there is always a risk. I would have said thank you, but no deal.”
