Super Eagles stars Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman will lead 11 other Nigerians into today’s main draw for Europe’s elite club competition, the UEFA Champions League.
Last season, Ademola Lookman and Atletico Madrid played in the semifinals of the competition, while Osimhen’s goals helped Galatasaray to a historic Round of 16, where they lost to Liverpool.
Atletico Madrid are again one of 10 top seeds, while Galatasaray are in Pot 3.
Czech champions Slavia Praha boast the strongest Nigerian contingent going into the Champions League as they will parade as many as five players – Igho Ogbu, Emmanuel Auaosi, David Moses, Mubarak Suleiman and Samuel Isife.
This season, Moses Usor of Austrian club LASK will make his Champions League debut, so also winger Christian Nwachukwu, who played a big role for Azerbaijani champions Sabah FK to reach the group phase for the first time in their history.
Both LASK and Sabah are in Pot 4 of the draw as the least ranked teams in the competition.
