A fact-finding committee set up by the NFF has indicted the NFF congress for defying three Nigerian Presidents over the need for new statutes that will “accommodate everybody” and “liberate” the football federation.
SCORENigeria has sighted the four-page final report submitted by its chairman Fanny Amun and in the document the committee touched on the need for ammended NFF statutes as requested by at least three Presidents of the country, namely Goodluck Jonathan, Muhammed Buhari and Bola Tinubu.
“The alleged refusal of the NFF congress to effect necessary, achievable and workable model of the statutes to accommodate everybody that will liberate the federation despite the requests from the 3 Presidents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the committee reported.
There has been a clamour for far-reaching changes to the NFF statutes to take in more critical stakeholders rather than the congress to be dominated by state FA chairmen.
Past and present Presidents have added their voice to this call for major changes to the governance structure of Nigerian football, but they have so far been rebuffed by the NFF congress.
