New signing Tolu Arokodare has set the top target for Ajax – qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Ajax are the biggest club in Holland and will this season be battling to feature in the lesser rated UEFA Conference League, but Super Eagles striker Arokodare said the challenge is to play in the Champions League.
“Ajax are of course the biggest club in the Dutch league,” Arokodare began his story. “We know that as a team, as players, as football fans. Everyone knows that. With all due respect to the Conference League, but the Conference League is not where Ajax wants to be as a team. You want to play in the Champions League.”
Arokodare wants to return to the top level with Ajax as soon as possible.
“The most important goal for this season is therefore obviously to win matches, take the title, and return to the right position. Namely, qualification for the Champions League,” explained the towering striker.
First, however, Ajax focus is on the matches against FC Sion, in which qualification for the Conference League must be secured.
“For the time being, we are in the Conference League and we are going to focus on what lies ahead. We are concentrating on our task, which is to reach the Conference League,” said Arokodare.
“We are focusing on returning to the position that is rightfully ours.”
