Portuguese champions Benfica have certified Falconets striker Janet ‘Semenya’ Akekoromowei for next month’s U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
Semenya had previously been barnished by new club Benfica to the B team for her to step up her conditioning.
A source close to the player told SCORENigeria: “Semenya has been declared fit by the doctors at Benfica and she’s now good to go for the World Cup.”
Semenya will join up directly from her European base with the Falconets by August 24, when they are due to fly into Poland.
The U20 World Cup kicks off on September 5 with Nigeria opening their campaign two days later against highly-rated Spain.
China and New Caledonia are the other teams in their first round group.
