The debate has raged on about who between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronado is the Greatest Of All Times.
Messi and Ronaldo are no doubt among the greatest players to have played the game of football.
There should be no basis for comparisons as they have written their names in gold and got millions of people to love the game of football.
Discrediting one for the other should not arise as both have done well for the game, their respective countries and themselves.
Messi and Ronaldo are undoubtedly on the list of greatest players from the past, present and surely will be reference in future as it is being done for other Legends like Pele and Diego Maradona.
The 39-year-old Messi has won eight Ballon d’Or for best player in the world. He is the most decorated player in history of football, having won 46 trophies. He scored most goals 91 in one calendar year, most goals 474 in La Liga history and most assists in World Cup history.
He has scored 914 career goals for club and country.
The 41-year-old Ronaldo has won 35 trophies in his illustrious career and has also won five Ballon d’Or.
He holds the record for most goals scored – 140 – in UEFA Champions League history.
He has the most caps 233 for men internationally, Ronaldo on record has scored most career goals 973 by any player.
The thing to do is to respect both players and honour them for what they have achieved so far and will still achieve as they are both still active.
Messi and Ronaldo are GOATS and deserve accolades, but not shades or ridicule from their opposing fans.
