Who will win the 2026 World Cup on July 19?
The semifinals see France up against Spain, while Argentina take on England.
The Opta Super Computer has done its own calculations and it has predicted that France have the best chance to win a third World Cup.
The match-up between France and Spain, according to Opta, also have the greatest chance of actually winning the World Cup.
France have a 57.7% chance of reaching the final and a 34% chance of taking home the World Cup trophy.
Spain are not far behind, but according to the simulations, must start as slight underdogs against France.
The Spanish national team have a 42.3% chance of reaching the final. The chance of winning the world title is estimated by Opta at 23.4%.
The fact that Spain are still the second-largest title contenders despite that semi-final against France says a lot about the confidence in the team. Nevertheless, the task will be particularly tough.
According to the numbers, France currently appear to be the most complete candidate to win the tournament.
In the other semi-final, the difference is even smaller.
England take on Argentina and are given a 50.9% chance by Opta of advancing to the final. Argentina follow with 49.1%. That match is therefore seen as almost a true 50-50.
However, according to the supercomputer, England are just slightly better placed to become world champions than Argentina. The English are given a 21.9% chance of winning, while Argentina remain stuck at 20.6%.
It is striking that all four teams are still relatively close to each other, especially behind France. One match could change everything again.
The semi-finals therefore promise to be particularly exciting, with France as the favourites, Spain as the first challengers, and an Anglo-Argentine clash in which there is hardly anything to choose from
