Striker Folarin Balogun has vowed that the US will bounce back after they were eliminated by Belgium in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, which they are co-hosting.
Balogun’s one-match ban was controversially lifted for him to play against Belgium only for the Europeans to thrash the World Cup co-hosts 4-1 to advance to the quarterfinal.
“Soccer in America will only become bigger, the belief, the talent and the passion is continually growing and I know that the best days are in front of us, the future belongs to those who never stop believing,” the AS Monaco striker said.
“This will fuel us, we will be back.”
The USA reached the knockout rounds of the World Cup for the first time in their history.
Balogun apologised to the fans that they fell short against Belgium.
“I want to say sorry to our fans, it was not good enough when it mattered most and we let you down,” he said.
