The biggest World Cup featuring 48 teams and to be played across three countries will finally get underway tomorrow night inside the iconic Azteca Stadium in Mexico City when co-hosts Mexico take on Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
Kick-off time us 8pm.
Incidentally, both countries opened the 2010 World Cup when South Africa became the first African nation to stage the global showpiece football tournament.
Siphiwe Tshabalala made the history books when he fired home a spectacular opening goal to send the home fans crazy, before El Tri fought back to draw 1-1 courtesy of Rafael Marquez.
Bafana Bafana will be one of 10 African teams at this year’s World Cup with Morocco, Senegal, Ghana, Tunisia, DR Congo, Cape Verde, Egypt, Cote d’Ivoire and Algeria all qualified.
Morocco posted the best African performance yet at the Mundial when they finished fourth at the 2022 World Cup hosted by Qatar.
