Nottingham Forest fullback Ola Aina has again been left out of the Super Eagles squads for both the Unity Cup and friendlies against Poland and Portugal to further raise serious questions over his international future.
As first reported by SCORENigeria, Ola Aina is mulling quitting the Super Eagles after he was abandoned to his fate by the NFF following the injury he suffered in a 2026 World Cup qualifier against South Africa in September 2025.
The Forest star needed surgery for the hamstring injury and was sidelined for several months.
A top official told only SCORENigeria: “One of the reasons for the pay strike the Super Eagles embarked upon at the continental World Cup Playoffs in Morocco last November was to protest how the NFF abandoned Ola Aina when he was injured on national team duty.
“That was why the NFF president (Ibrahim Gusau) had to make an unplanned visit to England to meet with the player soon after.”
It was further gathered that the player has since asked the officials to give him time to consider his future with the Super Eagles.
The 29-year-old right fullback has won 48 caps for Nigeria since he made his international debut in October 2017 after he successfully changed his international allegiance from England, who he represented at various age-grade levels.
