The NPFL will be represented by as many as seven players at the Unity Cup in London and Shooting Stars midfielder Ayobami Junior has said it is a massive boost to the domestic league.
Ayobami Junior as well as Michael Atata, Tosin Oyedokun, Aderemi Adeoye (Ikorodu City), Chibueze Oputa, Obinna Igboke (Enugu Rangers) and Elias Ochobi (Rivers United) have been called up by Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle for the invitational Unity Cup, which kicks off Tuesday against Zimbabwe.
“Seven players were invited from the NPFL, so it’s good,” commented Ayobami Junior, who said he hopes to prove himself at the tournament.
“There are good, quality players in the NPFL.”
The Shooting Stars midfielder celebrated his first-ever Super Eagles call-up Wednesday by scoring one of the goals in a 2-1 victory to eliminate NNL side Kebbi United from the President Federation Cup.
