The Czech club of Emmanuel of Ayaosi have been fingered in a major match-fixing scandal that has rocked the country.
It has been alleged that the Mayor of Karvina, who owns Ayaosi’s top-league club, played a key role in this scandal.
The president of the Czech Football Association, David Trunda, said: “A large-scale intervention has been underway since 6:00 AM, possibly the largest in the history of Czech football.
“Europol and Interpol are involved in the operation. All this in coordination with UEFA’s anti-match-fixing unit. This is the result of cooperation between the FACR and the Czech police.
“The ethics committee is starting the procedure today with more than 40 players, officials, referees, and clubs, including clubs from the top division down to the fourth division, plus youth competitions.”
Dozens of suspects and clubs have therefore come into the picture, including clubs from the country’s top tier, as well as referees and various club officials.
The suspects are therefore administrators, referees, players, and agents. They are accused of participating in an organized crime group, fraud, bribery, and money laundering, according to Public Prosecutor Radim Dragoun.
The suspects, who are currently being questioned, face a prison sentence of up to 13 years if convicted.
